Jake Hill is back in Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship action this weekend and he is keen to keep up his winning momentum.
He has won four out of the last six races and this weekend he and the Laser Tools Racing team head to the picturesque Oulton Park, looking to pick-up more victories and ultimately the championship lead.
Marking the final event before the BTCC’s annual mid-summer break in 2024, Oulton Park has been a happy hunting ground for Jake Hill and the Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport team with last year’s edition seeing Jake record two victories in the three races – Jake’s first-ever double victory weekend in the BTCC.
The team heads for the Cheshire circuit this week on the back of a hot streak of form that saw Jake Hill record four wins in the previous six races – with double victories at both Snetterton and Thruxton.
This fantastic run has elevated Jake to 2nd in the Drivers’ Championship with 164 points – just 5 points adrift of the championship leader.
This weekend, Jake Hill, in his WSR-run BMW 330e M Sport, and the team will have to manage his hybrid deployment with his 2nd place championship position meaning he will have just 3 Secs/Lap of hybrid in qualifying, deployed at a minimum speed of 135 KPH, with two laps of hybrid to be used in the opening 16-lap race on Sunday.
Speaking ahead of the weekend Hill said: “This weekend brings a fresh challenge with the Oulton Park circuit, which is completely different from the previous round at Thruxton. Our BMW 330e M-Sport has proven to be well-suited to this layout in the past, and I’m confident in our package, especially after our success here last year.
Oulton Park is a highlight of the year. The track is a lot of fun to drive but leaves very little margin for error. The hybrid allocation should have a bigger impact this weekend, so it’s a factor we’ll need to manage effectively. Navigating all stages of qualifying will be a challenge, but securing a good starting position is key to a strong Sunday.
The team has been doing a fantastic job this season, and we’re still learning and improving every time we hit the track. We’ve been collecting great results so far this year, and I’m confident we can keep that form going.”
