2019 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Independant Team and Driver’s Champions AmD Tuning will run Knockhill race-winner Jake Hill in a Honda Civic Type R during 2020, the 25 year-old joining the Thurrock-based squad having had his strongest season in BTCC so far.
Hill impressed last season in Trade Price Cars Racing’s Audi S3, where as well as winning at Knockhill he also took points at all ten meetings en route to 4th in the Independent Driver’s category, the Kent-based driver now keen to build on his 2019 results.
“I had a fantastic year with Trade Price Cars Racing, and am hugely grateful to Dan (Kirby) and the whole team and their partners for all their support and the opportunity to race with them.
“For next season it’s a different challenge, I now know what it takes to win, now I want to be in a position to try to score more points, podiums and hopefully more wins.
AmD team principle Shaun Hollamby explained how the association with Hill went back some time.
“We first became aware of Jake when he was winning in Ginetta Juniors, and supported him in various series, before running him in British GT in 2015. After he tested the MG at Snetterton in 2018 we could see just how much he had developed, and then working alongside him in 2019 we feel he is now in an ideal position to regularly challenge at the front. We’re all really excited to see what we can achieve.
“Conversations with drivers to join Jake are ongoing, with more exciting news to be announced soon.
“2019 was an incredible year, we know we have the right people, the right equipment and in Jake one of the most promising drivers on the grid, so we can’t wait to get started and see what can be achieved in 2020.
Hill’s Honda Civic Type R will feature on the Cobra Sport stand at Autosport International next month, with Hill in attendance on most days at the show.
