As the BTCC heads to Scotland for it’s annual trip to the stunning sweeps of Knockhill, MB Motorsport’s Jake Hill is hoping to build on a strong weekend at Oulton Park, and ideally a repeat of last season where the Kent-based driver took his maiden BTCC win.
“Knockhill is a circuit I absolutely love. The flow and the challenge – especially the chicane – is like no other circuit. Up until last year I had taken podiums there in every series I’d raced in, but Knockhill was the only UK circuit I’d never won at. So to win here for the first time, and for it to be my first BTCC win, was such a mega moment.
So far this year 26 year-old Hill and the MB Motorsport team have experienced both highs and lows, with technical dramas affecting the first two events of the year, but strong qualifying in all three races so far, and at Oulton Park a first podium in race one, plus two further top-ten finishes boosting Hill’s confidence.
“I won’t lie the first couple of race weekends were brutal. We were really quick at times in practice, and have qualified well at all three events, but so many dramas in the first couple of races really knocked us. Hence the Podium and points at Oulton Park were so important to me, the team and our amazing partners.
“It’s simple. I want to keep improving, take more podiums and more points, and I know this team can deliver. I love working with these guys, have total faith in everyone from Shaun (team principle Hollamby) onwards that’s working with me.
