The Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport team is gearing up for the final round of the 2024 BTCC Championship at Brands Hatch GP with Kent’s Jake Hill tied for the lead in the Drivers’ Championship, the team is ready for an exhilarating weekend and is focused on securing the championship title.
This season finale holds special significance, marking a historic moment in BTCC, as for the first time in 63 years, the top two contenders in the Drivers’ Championship are tied on points heading into the final race weekend. Jake’s outstanding 2024 campaign has seen him notch up seven wins and thirteen podium finishes.
In the previous round at Silverstone, Jake added to his win count by securing his seventh victory of the season. His strong performance included a third-place podium and a fifth-place result among a treble of top-five finishes.
The 2.43-mile Brands Hatch GP circuit is the home track for both Jake Hill and the team, and the 2023 finale marked Jake’s first victory at his home circuit. Since the transition to the WSR-run BMW 330e M Sport, Jake has demonstrated impressive form at Brands Hatch GP, finishing on the podium three times in the last six races, including a race victory.
For the finale, Jake will need to strategically manage his hybrid deployment in his WSR-run BMW 330e M Sport. With the championship lead tied, he’ll have only 1 second per lap of hybrid available during qualifying, which must be deployed at a minimum speed of 135 kph. In the opening 15-lap race on Sunday, he’ll have five laps of hybrid to utilise.
Speaking ahead of the weekend, Jake said:
“I’m incredibly excited for the finale at Brands Hatch. It’s our home circuit—my favourite—and there’s no better place to chase the championship. Everything we’ve worked towards all season comes down to this one weekend.”

Meanwhile, Sporting Director Mark Blundell said:
