Andy Hessenthaler hailed loan striker Frank Nouble after his side had tamed Hereford at the weekend.

The Gills boss was delighted with the West Ham striker after he opened the scoring in the 19th minute of the 6-1 win.

It turned out to be Gillingham’s best away win in their history and had lifted them up to ninth in League Two and Hessenthaler was full of praise for the 20 year old striker:

“Frank is young and has come in and done fantastically well, so I am delighted for the lad.

“He’s strong, quick and fantastic with the ball at his feet. He gave us another option up top, a bit more presence alongside Keds and the pair of them hit it off straight away. He’s a big lad but that doesn’t mean we’re going to go route one and you could see we moved the ball around well.

“It was also a great performance to have scored six goals away from home.”

Nouble, who has made 10 Premier League appearances, showed his class with a fine opportunist goal as he dispossessed Ryan Green before drilling the ball into the corner of the net.

He said: “It was great to score on my debut.”

The inclusion of Nouble was a remarkable turnaround for the Gills who had struggled to find the net in recent games and with the West Ham striker set to be at Priestfield until October 16th, the hitman has already hinted he would be keen to extend that deal for longer.
