KSN are proud to support:

Herne Bay 2-5 East Grinstead Town
Herne Bay 2-5 East Grinstead Town

Back to the old form after the euphoria of the Whitstable victory. What we all cannot understand is how we can play so well, with passion for that match, and not do the same against East Grinstead Town.

To win this match was probably more important to us than the Whitstable game. It wasn’t only the fact we lost but the way we played, particularly in the first half. It was shambolic defending and very embarrassing.

The events as they happened are listed below:

8 minutes 0-1- From a corner the ball is not cleared and as it drops Greg Cundle smashes it home from 6 yards.
13 minutes – Simon Kabamba booked
15 minutes 0-2– Cundle again, unmarked, drives a low shot from 20 yards.
18 minutes 0-3– Ryan Johnson not closed down, allowed to shoot from close range
24 minutes 0-4 – Leo Mazzone unmarked on the right shoots from outside the box and despite attempts to block the shot the ball deflects of James White beating Simon Overland at the near post.
26 minutes – Connor Wilkins replaces James White
36 minutes – George Landais goes through but his shot hits the post and rebounds back into Overland’s hands
38 minutes – Overland makes a brilliant save preventing Cundle’s hat trick.
40 minutes – Another Overland save this time with his feet
41 minutes – Raphe Brown replaces Jamie Chamberlain
46 minutes – Half time, thank goodness.
I am sure I have missed some other near misses or saves from Simon.

The second half was a little better but the fact we won it 2-1, is irrelevant when you lose 2-5!
55 minutes – Connor Wilkins shoots just wide
63 minutes – Tom Carlton brought down in the box; Jake Embery blasts the spot kick wide of Ceesay
70 minutes – Wasps substitute Jacob Hutchinson taps home, restoring the four goal lead
75 minutes – Jake Embery breaks through the defensive line and smashes his volley into the top corner.

Fellow strugglers Sittingbourne win 4-1 against Sevenoaks Town, Faversham Town led Phoenix Sports 2-0 with 12 minutes to go but finish up 2-2. Greenwich Borough led Three Bridges 2-0 until the 68th minute and also finish up 2-2.

Herne Bay are now 8 points adrift at the bottom of the table and have lost all nine of their home games so far this season. Next up Hythe Town, who will most certainly looking to turn their own fortunes around after losing their third league match on the trot after going down3-4 to Whyteleafe.
