Former Gillingham defender Simon King will sign for Inverness Caledonian Thistle on August 1 on the expiry of his contract with The Gills.
The 29-year-old defender was released by The Gills at the end of last season and has been training with the Scottish Premier League side with a view to earning a deal and will put pen to paper on Wednesday and will then be eligible for Caley’s SPL opener against St Mirren on Saturday.
Despite having picked up a slight thigh strain, Inverness manager Terry Butcher expects him to be fully fit for the Paisley trip at the weekend:
“Simon has agreed to sign on Wednesday and that completes our first team pool”, Butcher told the club’s official website.
“He’s a useful acquisition with good experience and we’re pleased to land him.”
King made 112 appearances for Gillingham after signing from Barnet in the summer of 2007 for £200,000, but missed almost two entire seasons after sustaining an ankle ligament injury in the summer of 2009.
A firm fans favourite at Gillingham, King will be a great asset for Inverness and everyone at KSN would like to wish him all the best in the future.
