Sittingbourne moved to within two points of the top of Isthmian South East with a second half performance that literally blew Herne Bay away.
And it was the Brickies subs who starred with Ryan Kingsford, Henry Sinai and Jay Beckford all scoring within minutes of their introduction as the home side collapsed in a seven minutes spell that saw Kingsford curl a cracker into the top corner, Jack Steventon acrobatically double the lead with a stunning overhead kick, Sinai drove home the third before Beckford netted a brilliant fourth in stoppage time – all in the final twenty-one minutes.
Until then, especially in the first half, the Bay caused the Brickies some issues without really creating a chance that could be called a clear one, with Michael Salako getting in some good space wide but unable to provide the killer pass.
Joe Boachie had the games first real chance only to be denied by keeper Josh Bexon. Boachie then went close with a shot on the turn from a long throw, before from a short routine that caught Sittingbourne napping Scott Heard flighted a terrific cross that Ethan Smith couldn’t convert.
Bexon kept the scoreline blank with a magnificent double save to deny firstly Boachies shot and then James Bessey’s follow up, and on the stroke of the break Boachie fired over after wriggling through.
Bexon again denied the Brickies at the start of the second period with a great tip over to deny Troy Howard before the home side enjoyed their best spell of the game. Sinnkaye Christie headed over after a ball into the Brickies box wasn’t dealt with, and from a driven Salako centre neither Kane Rowland or Kane Haysman were able to covert.
The introduction of Kingsford and Sinai on the hour turned the game the visitors way as within fourteen minutes the game was won. Kingsland opened the scoring with an amazing strike that flew into the top corner as he cut in from the left.
Sinai then went close to doubling the lead almost instantly only to be denied by a fabulous tip-over from Bexon but the second duly arrived just three minutes after the first and from an unlikely source as Richie Hamill brilliantly dinked a ball back into the box when a corner was half cleared, and Steventon denied logic with an overhead kick that flew past a startled keeper.
Sinai then did get his goal on 74 minutes as he fired past the beleaguered keeper to seal another really impressive three points on the road for the Brickies – three points that were well and truly cemented in stoppage time when Beckford hit a screamer into the net just a matter of minutes after himself coming on…
