Heard hoping to be back for new season

Midfielder Scott Heard could be back in action by the time the new season starts after having a successful operation on his knee last weekend.

The former Whitstable star was in cracking form for Folkestone Invicta when hit by a problem with the knee that brought a premature end to his season – his last game being at Harrow Borough on March 10th.

Folkestone boss Neil Cugley said: “He’s had the op and it appears that there was no long term damage but how soon he’ll get the okay to play again isn’t certain just yet.

“I spoke to him yesterday, Tuesday, and he’s in very good spirits, so who knows – maybe he’ll be able to get back for pre-season and it would be great if he’s back and playing by the start of the season.

“He’s certainly not put any weight on as far as I know, and if he gets running around like he can that certainly won’t be a problem.”

Cugs expects to tie up a deal with one new player by the end of the week, but it seems at this moment that the defender who had looked almost certain to sign has now changed his mind.

Talks remain ongoing with ex-Hythe star Jerald Abogaye who is yet to decide if he is staying at The Fullicks for coming campaign.

* Prices have now been announced for Invicta’s home pre-season games.

Admission for the first three games is £10 for adults and £6 concessions.

The remaining three home matches will by be just £5 and £3.

It has also been confirmed that the game against Dartford on July 28th will be for the Sid Burvill Trophy which is played for every year against different opposition in memory of club’s popular gateman after whom the Morrison’s End gates are named.
