Kent’s Esmee Hawkey has joined the revered BRDC Rising Stars programme – scouted as one of the country’s leading young racing talents and continuing her upward trajectory through the motorsport ranks.
Esmee has joined the programme after an excellent campaign in the DTM championship in 2021, where the 23-year-old thoroughly impressed throughout the year – becoming one of the first women to score points in the series in 10 years.
One year prior, Esmee won the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Pro-Am championship in emphatic style.
A prestigious scheme for young British drivers, the BRDC Rising Stars programme boasts a rich group of alumni, including Sir Lewis Hamilton. Drivers chosen are often selected for their achievements, dedication and commitment to their racing careers.
Throughout the upcoming season, Esmee will sport the BRDC Rising Star’s unique blue roundel – proudly representing the Club both on and off track.
“I’m over the moon to be selected as a BRDC Rising Star,” Esmee said. “To be recognised by the Club is very humbling, it’s a huge honour. It’s amazing to have the backing and support of one of the most prestigious Clubs in the world. I will wear the blue roundel with pride on track this year.”
Mark Blundell, a lifetime member of the BRDC and CEO of MB Partners, added:
“Esmee is one of the country’s most talented young racers out there today. I’m delighted to hear the news of her induction into the BRDC Rising Stars programme. It is testament to her talent and incredible work ethic. I fully believe Esmee will excel as part of the programme and become another of its highly celebrated members.”
