Hartley Wintney v Bromley preview

Bromley begin their FA Trophy campaign on Saturday when they travel to Southern League Division One East side Hartley Wintney for a First Round tie.

Hartley Wintney have played four qualifying games to reach this stage of the competition winning all of them and only conceding one goal in the process.

They currently sit sixth in the table with games in hand on those above them, picking up 32 points from their 17 games played. The Row’s game at Thame Utd was postponed on Tuesday, but their last league game saw them win 5-1 at home to early season pace setters Moneyfields.

Bromley travel over to Surrey on the back of a 2-1 win over Margate in the Kent Senior Cup on Tuesday night that saw Neil Smith give game time to several players who had been without a regular start recently and also some academy players.

In their last National League game The Ravens drew 4-4 at Eastleigh in a match where they trailed 2-0 and lead twice before conceding a last minute equaliser.

Striker Brett Williams has scored in his last two games and will again be in contention for a start having missed three games due to suspension and spent time on the bench following that.

The draw in Hampshire left Bromley eighth in the table with 37 points from 24 games played, one place under the play off spots.

A good crowd is expected for this cup tie between sides four divisions apart, with Bromley fans travelling in numbers and Hartley Wintney promoting the game heavily this week.

Neil Smith’s men will need to be on their game to avoid a potential upset against a team high on confidence and looking to continue their impressive run, while The Ravens will be keen to get closer to a Wembley appearance than they usually do in this competition.
