A decent number of away followers made the arduous journey to Hartlepool and their number was swollen by someone who did not have to travel quite so far.

Former Charlton keeper, Rob Elliot, enjoyed his afternoon in the Rink End as much as anyone. Given a warm reception by his fellow fans, Elliot would have been pleased to know he is still very much a local hero.

Chris Powell sent out the same tean and subs as in the previous two games, resisting the temptation to put Dale Stephens on the bench. Both Stephens and Evina took part in the pre-match warm up though.

Bradley Wright-Phillips notched a first half brace again, though that first senior hat-trick still proved to be elusive.

After nine minutes, a glorious cross from the left by Rhoys Wiggins was effortlessly tucked away by the in-form striker with his weaker left foot. Eight minutes before the interval, more good work down the left by Jackson and Wiggins saw the ever improving left-back supply his fifth assist in a week. Again, Wright-Phillips was on the spot to volley home his second of the afternoon with his supposedly weaker left foot.

The half ended with the fourth booking of the season for Danny Green. Ben Hamer was called upon to make a meaningful save just once, but that was one more than he had to make in the second half as the Addicks went on to inflict a fourth successive home defeat on their hosts.

Peter Hartley was booked for a foul on Yann Kermorgant after 56 minutes. The striker was advancing on the right hand side of the box when Hartley brought him down. Jackson clipped the resulting free-kick to the far post for Danny Hollands to convert with a diving header.

Wagstaff and Hayes, on as subs for Green and Kermorgant, combined for the fourth. Hayes cut in along to pull the ball back for Wagstaff to beat Scott Flinders at the near post six minutes from time.

A comprehensive win for the Addicks whose attacking flair was matched by a first class work ethic. When Hartlepool threatened, there was always someone on hand to close them down or to put their body on the line to get a block in.

Three wins on the bounce now for Charlton following that first defeat at Stevenage. If they can keep this level of performance and focus up, there will be many smiling faces in SE7 come May.
