Hart to leave Charlton position
Hart to leave Charlton position

Paul Hart is to leave his post as Charlton’s Academy Director due to a ‘restructure’, with Steve Avory becoming Academy Manager.

Hart has long been rumoured with the Manchester City academy job and his family home is still in Nottingham.

It is possible that Roland Duchatelet will appoint a central academy director to oversee the operation of all the academies in his network.

Charlton are keen to acquire Category One academy status and Hart would have been the ideal man to have instigated the required upgrades.

His departure has not come as a surprise but is, nevertheless, disappointing.

Rumours in Belgium suggest that former Millwall player, Bob Peeters, is set to be unveiled as the new head coach at The Valley.

Peeters is contracted to Belgian top-flight outfit, Waasland-Beveren, until the end of next season.

It is thought Peeters has a get out clause, with compensation set at three months salary.

Beveren seemed surprised by the news of his possible departure and said any talks with Peeters took place without their knowledge or permission.

Peeters has previously been in charge at both Cercle Bruges and Ghent, and represented Belgium 13 times at full international level.

He was at Millwall between 2003 – 2005 and appeared 25 times for the Lions.

The Addicks will travel to Colchester on Wednesday 30 July for a pre-season friendly. The club hope to arrange a game forSaturday 26 July, which will complete their pre-season schedule.
