Holcombe are looking to maintain their 100% record under Kwan Browne as they head to his former club Hampstead & Westminster on Saturday evening in the Premier Division (18:00).
Browne has overseen 5-3 and 4-1 wins over Wimbledon and Cardiff & Met respectively in his opening two games as head coach, leaving his side third in the table behind only last season’s champions Old Georgians and Surbiton, who are not in Premier Division action this weekend due to hosting the Euro Hockey League KO16 at Sugden Road.
Hampstead, meanwhile, have four points from their first two Premier Division matches after needing a 69th-minute equaliser from Kei Kaeppeler to draw 2-2 with Beeston at Paddington Rec last weekend.
Rhett Halkett’s side won 3-1 at East Grinstead on the opening day and sit fifth in the table, level on points with Beeston ahead of them.
The hosts could include former Holc Tim Guise-Browne in their squad after he moved to the Londoners to link up with brother Matt over the summer.
The two sides met three times last season with Holcombe winning 5-1 at Paddington Rec in Phase One courtesy of two goals from Guise-Brown alongside strikes from Nick Bandurak, Phil Roper and Tom Russell, who has two in two so far this season – as do new signings Matt Ramshaw, who used to play for Hampstead, and Mubashar Ali.
Goals from Alex Pendle and Russell also earned Holcs a 2-1 Phase Two win at Holcombe Park before Hampstead edged out as 1-0 winners in Phase Three at Holcombe to finish above their opponents in Pool A and secure a League Finals weekend spot.
Holcombe’s women are also in action at Paddington Rec against Hampstead & Westminster on Saturday (16:00).
