Charlton Athletic goalkeeper Ben Hamer is reported as being close to finalising a deal to join Leicester.Ben Hamer

Hamer has been first choice for much of his three years at The Valley, but that situation would be unlikely to continue at the King Power.

Kasper Schmeichel is Leicester’s established first choice, though there is interest in the Dane from other clubs.

Should Schmeichel move on, it is thought the Foxes would bring in Julian Speroni as their number one though.

Michael Morrison has told the South London Press that he has yet to receive an offer for next season. Here’s what he said:

“I’ve really enjoyed my time at Charlton. I’ve progressed into a first-team regular at the football club. It was a really sweet feeling to make sure we stayed up.

“It was nice to play the last game without having to worry.

“I feel I’ve put a lot of effort into getting Charlton where we are now, so it would have been really painful to see them go down.”

Morrison indicated that the club had said they want to keep him and he was hopeful of a deal being offered on return from his holiday in Spain.

Some of the terminology in the interview gives the impression though, that Morrison thinks his time at the club could be over.

Charlton fans will await news of developments with interest.

News also emerged that the Addicks could be interested in signing 20-year-old Standard Liege striker, Yannis Mbombo Lokwa.

The form of the January intake from the Continent was indifferent and a core of players with experience of the Championship will be required if the Addicks are to have a better campaign next time around.

Twenty-two of the twenty-four teams who will comprise the 2014/15 Championship are already known, and the identity of the remaining two moved a little closer to being revealed this week.

The Championship and League One play-off semi-finals were completed, with Derby and Queens Park Rangers getting through to next Saturday’s final at Wembley.

A day later, Leyton Orient and Rotherham will contest the League One final. It is many years since either club played in the second tier of English football, so they will be welcome members of the Championship.

Travelling Charlton fans will be hoping Rotherham are the victors. The Addicks have yet to play at the New York Stadium, the new home of the Millers.
