Ben Hamer’s damaged ankle ligaments will sideline him for a couple of weeks or so. A scan revealed that there was no break but though the player expects to be fit in a fortnight, he could be out for a while longer.
Ligament damage is normally slow to heal and a recurrence often happens if a play comes back too soon.
As expected, Nick Pope has been recalled from his loan spell at York to provide cover for Ben Alnwick.
Another player to suffer an injury on Tuesday was young striker, Ade Azeez. Azeez damaged his hamstring in Torquay’s match with Plymouth. Azeez has returned to Sparrows Lane for treatment but can not feature for the Addicks until his loan spell at Plainmoor officially ends.
Two players who can look forward to first team action are Bradley Jordan and Morgan Fox, who have both joined League One side, Notts County, on loan.
Holding midfielder, Jordan, is skipper of Charlton’s Under-21 team. Fox is a left-back who has been unlucky not to feature for the first team yet.
Fox is 20-years-old, while Jordan will be 20 in January. The spell at Meadow Lane will be an excellent opportunity for the duo to gain experience.
Chris Powell will be hoping to add a player or two to his squad ahead of the busy Christmas programme. Although the manager has said it is unlikely he will be able to bring players to the club before Thursday’s 5.00pm loan window deadline, it is thought the Addicks are trying to add to their squad. A versatile defender could be top of Powell’s priority list.
