Gravesend based Team HARD yesterday announced the return of fans favourite Jack Goff to the team for Rockingham.
Jack was forced to miss the recent round of the Championship at Knockhill but now he is back for the final three rounds of the season, as he gets behind the wheel of the Vauxhall Insignia.
Jack is currently 19th in the Championship with 25 points from the first seven rounds of the season and he will be looking to increase that in the coming races.
Team Principal Tony Gilham is delighted that Jack is going to be back on the grid for the Rockingham round in eight days’ time.
He said: “It’s great to have Jack back in the car, it was a tough decision for everyone to miss Knockhill but we completely believe in his talent and long term future with both the team and in the BTCC.”
Jack is the reigning Renault Clio Cup Champion and he has shown tremendous promise in his rookie season in the British Touring Car Championship.
He was clearly delighted to be able to get back on track and racing with the best drivers on four wheels.
He said: “The plan was obviously to test ahead of the season but as it was I started my first BTCC campaign without barely having driven a touring car. It wasn’t ideal and then we had our incident with Colin in qualifying, which again halted the learning curve. It was certainly a hectic opening weekend.
“The car was obviously brand new and we’ve all worked extremely hard to keep improving it. It’s getting better and better and that’s a great credit to everyone at the team.”
“I think it was Snetterton before we really felt like we were up to speed. The two-day tyre test before the event was absolutely huge for us as a team and for me personally as it was the first time I was able to spend that sort of time in the car. The fact that I was slightly disappointed to only qualify eighth there shows the kind of progress we’d made.”
Goff ha only had a young career in the BTCC so far but missing the Knockhill round will have been one of the hardest of his career so far.
He added: “Missing Knockhill was quite hard to take but we had to make a sensible decision that would enable us to complete the last three events of the season.
“It was difficult seeing someone else driving the car to be honest but I’m back now and I’m raring to go! I obviously hope to be a front-runner in the BTCC in the future but for now it’s all about pushing for the rest of the year before coming back even stronger in 2014.
“The next one is always the most important and I love Rockingham – I had two pole positions there last season and it’s a really great. It suits my style and I seem to go well there so I am really looking forward to it.”
With Goff in confident mood heading into a race at one of his favourite tracks, who would bet against him getting his best result of the season so far and using it as a springboard to go onto bigger things with Team Hard.
