Kent have named a 13 man LV= County Championship squad for the game against Gloucestershire beginning on Monday.

Kent 2015

After defeats at Essex and Lancashire, improved home displays against Leicestershire and Glamorgan ended in draws with Kent within one wicket of a win on Wednesday against the Welsh side.

Kent bounced back on Friday night with a superb seven-run win against Sussex Sharks in the NatWest T20 Blast and will be in confident mood as they return to the longest form of the game.

However, James Tredwell is out with a side strain so Adam Riley returns to the squad as does Mitch Claydon after an impressive spell in Friday’s 20-over win.

Sam Northeast will once again skipper the side in Rob Key’s absence with Joe Denly and Daniel Bell-Drummond looking to extend their current run of form with the bat.

Head coach Jimmy Adams said of the game: “The performances have improved game on game and we hope to follow Friday’s win with a solid display in red-ball cricket.”

Monday’s match is a reunion with former Kent ‘keeper Geraint Jones, who left the club last summer after 14 years of excellent service and joined Gloucestershire as four-day captain.

Adams said: “Geraint was a fantastic servant of Kent Cricket and we were delighted to see him get the opportunity at Gloucestershire.”

“He’s a fierce competitor so we expect a tough game at Bristol but the mood in our squad is positive.”

Kent squad: Sam Northeast (c), Joe Denly, Daniel Bell-Drummond, Brendan Nash, Fabian Cowdrey, Darren Stevens, Sam Billings (w), Calum Haggett, Matt Coles, Ivan Thomas, Adam Riley, Mitch Claydon, Charlie Hartley.
