Kent are set to name an unchanged side for their County Championship game away at Gloucestershire, starting tomorrow.
The side is expected to be the same as the one that lined up for Kent’s last two four-day fixtures – the win at home to Surrey and the rain-affected draw away at Derbyshire last week.
The squad named has no place for Robbie Joseph, despite him picking up figures of 4-59 in Kent’s 50-over game loss against Sri Lanka yesterday, with Adam Ball once again included and Charlie Hartley set to take on 12th man duties.
Captain Rob Key, Brendan Nash, Darren Stevens, Mitch Claydon, Adam Riley and Doug Bollinger were all rested for the Sri Lanka match, but will start tomorrow.
Kent’s away game at Gloucestershire last season provided them with one of the highlights of their campaign, as an incredible last day innings of 199 retired hurt from Brendan Nash helped the visitors to a two-wicket win.
That game last year saw the sides meet at Cheltenham, whereas they will face off at Bristol tomorrow; somewhere that has not exactly been a happy hunting ground for Kent in post-war cricket. Gloucestershire have won eight of the 22 games played between the sides at Bristol, with Kent victorious in just two, and 12 ending as draws.
Speaking about the 12-man squad he had selected for the encounter, Kent Head Coach Jimmy Adams said: “We are looking to continue the good work shown in the last couple games, and look forward to the trip to Bristol.”
The home side are yet to claim a Championship win so far in 2014, having come away from their first four games of the season with two draws and two defeats. They are set to welcome back experienced all-rounder Will Gidman into their squad, although trio of seamers David Payne, Craig Miles and Ian Saxelby are all expected to be absent through injury.
The match gets underway at 11am tomorrow morning at the County Ground, Ashley Down, Bristol.
