Glebe vs Beckenham Town preview

There is a local derby in the SCEFL Premier Division on Tuesday night when Glebe take on Beckenham Town at Foxbury Avenue in Chislehurst, with both sides having won on Saturday.

Glebe go into the game on the back of a 5-0 home win over K Sports at the weekend thanks to an own goal and strikes from Danny McCarthy, Ben James, Jamie Philpott and Michael Frazier. While Beckenham make the short trip over from BR3 to BR7 having defeated Welling Town 3-0 away, their third consecutive victory. Rob Carter, Luke Rooney and Steve Townsend scoring inside seven minutes either side of half time at Bayliss Avenue.

Becks currently top the SCEFL Premier Division table with 57 points from 26 games, while Glebe sit in fifteenth with 28 points from only 20 league matches played.

Gary Alexander’s Glebe side have a hectic fixtures schedule lined up over the next two months with 16 league games and at least two cup matches to fit in, having done well in a number of cup competitions and also suffered postponements due to the unprecedented rain fall this year, which has meant they have only played six games so far in 2020.

When the sides met at Eden Park Avenue in August 2019, the game ended in a 3-1 away win for Glebe with goals from Matthew Parsons, Scott Kinch and Jack Harris after Becks had taken the lead through Shameek Farrell in the first half.

Jason Huntley’s Beckenham Town side are four points clear of second place Chatham Town in the table and they will be looking to maintain this lead on Tuesday night with both teams in league action, while Glebe look to find some consistency and form heading into a busy end to the campaign.
