In a break from league action Glebe host Westside in a Challenge Cup Quarter Final at Foxbury this evening.
Premier Division, Glebe, are having an excellent season and are currently in third place, battling it out with Chatham Town and Sheppey United. Each of the three teams have only lost two league games all season. Despite having to let their manager go, they have continued on their winning ways under joint caretaker managers Adam Flemming and Dan Hogan.
On Saturday, they burst into a two goal lead within twenty minutes at Rusthall, courtesy of a brace by Lanre Azeez. Charlie Clover pulled one back in the sixty-third minute but Soloman Baugh scored for Glebe in the final minute to ensure the three points, and their seventh consecutive win.
Wandsworth based Westside are mid-table in division one and are yet to win their first league game in 2022. However, they defeated promotion chasing Bridon Ropes to reach the quarter final.
It has been a difficult time for Rusthall who have managed just one win in 2022 and have lost their last five games. On Saturday, they hosted Erith Town and it looked as if they were going to halt their run of losses until Harry Gamble broke the deadlock with a minute remaining.
They were beaten three-one at home to Snodland on Saturday. Daniel Ashton put the visitors ahead in the second minute and Adam Hooper added a second two minutes before half time. Sean Adams made it three on the hour and Trevor Webster’s late goal for Westside was just a consolation.
Although the form guide would suggest a straight-forward evening for the Foxes, if they take the occasion too lightly they could be victims of a shock result.
