Midweek football takes place in Chislehurst in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division on Wednesday evening when Glebe host VCD Athletic.
After a slow start to the season, maybe caused by a play-off hangover, Glebe have found their form winning their last three league and F.A. Vase matches. In the league they have won two, drawn one and lost two. However, they have all been away from home to allow them additional time for ground improvements including an all weather playing surface.
On Saturday they won two-one at Stansfeld after being behind at the break. Jerry Nnamani equalised twenty minutes into the second half and Reggie Rye scored what turned out to be the winner eight minutes later.
Visitors VCD have made a much better start and are yet to lose a league game. They have won four and drawn one. Away from home they won one-nil at Stansfeld and drew nil-nil with Erith and Belvedere.
Their game on Saturday, at home to Tunbridge Wells, was also a come from behind two-one win. Having conceded in the thirteenth minute, they equalised just after the half hour mark through Bethel Gboda. Lee Bird scored their winner with twelve minutes remaining.
Both clubs came through the F.A. Vase First Qualifying round, the Foxes won four-two at Mile Oak while the Vickers won four-one at Westside.
In the league matches between the two teams last season, Glebe won both comfortably. The game at VCD in September ended in a four-one win for the Foxes. Gboda put the Vickers ahead in the first half but within six minutes they were behind to goals by Marcel McDonald and Jonathon Erhabor. Malachi Morris added a third and Erhabor completed the scoring with three minutes remaining.
When they met in the return game, in February, Glebe enjoyed another convincing win. Darion Dowrich and Jamie Coyle put them two-up before the break. Rodney Eruotor added a third and McDonald rounded off a four-nil win.
