Two South East Counties Football League Premier Division sides who have had the most wretched of luck with the winter storms meet each other for a hastily arranged Thursday night league fixture.
Hosts Glebe have played just twenty league games this and still need and need to fit in another sixteen league games whilst Tunbridge Wells have played two more games but are yet to play a home league game in 2020.
Sensibly, the league have allowed the two teams to delay the two legged league cup semi final between them until after the end of the league campaign.
Although fourteen points behind league leaders Beckenham Town, Tunbridge Wells have played four games fewer and could still make a surge for the title. Their last game was at the end of February and they tumbled to defeat at free scoring Chatham Town.
There was no scoring for over half an hour but Rob Denness broke the deadlock and Matt Bodkin made it two five minutes later. Josh Froggatt pulled a goal back five minutes after the break but a goal from Ryan Palmer and a Jon Pilbeam brace consigned the Wells to defeat.
On Saturday, Glebe had a successful day defeating K Sports five-nil at home. They were given a helping hand when a defender to put a Remel Lake cross into his own net before Danny McCarthy tapped in a second.
After the break, Ben James marked his debut with a headed goal before Jamie Philpot was fouled in the penalty area and converted from the spot. Michael Frazer scored the Foxes fifth and final goal with twelve minutes remaining.
Gary Alexander’s team were due to host Beckenham Town on Tuesday night but the weather put paid to that however, as long as there’s not a deluge prior to kick off, the game with Tunbridge Wells should go ahead.
