On Monday night Glebe host K Sports at Foxbury in a Southern Counties East Football League match.
Although the promotion places have been decided with Sheppey United and Chatham Town both set for the Isthmian League next season, and K Sports are safe from relegation, both clubs will be wanting to pick up as many points as possible out of their last four matches.
For most of the season, Glebe have been on the coat-tails of the top two but their form has waned in recent weeks with the Ites and the Chats relentless in their pursuit of the Championship. Two consecutive league wins means that one win in their last four would guarantee them third place for their best ever league finish in their history.
On Saturday they avenged their recent surprise defeat at home to Holmesdale by going to Oakley Road and beating them four-nil. Malachi Hudson opened the scoring in the twentieth minute but it was still tight until the Foxes added three more in the last nineteen minutes. Charlie Penny scored the all important second, Jamie Philpot’s forty-fifth goal of the season made it three and Dami Olorunnisomo rounded off the scoring in the final minute.
Aylesford based K Sports arrested a run of ten consecutive league defeats by claiming a good point at Erith Town on Saturday. Tarik Ibrahim put them ahead five minutes before the half time break but veteran Michael Power levelled five minutes into the second period when converting from the spot.
When K Sports hosted Glebe it was early on in the losing streak and was decided by the only goal of the match, scored by Penny with just four minutes left on the clock.
