Glebe v Canterbury City preview
Glebe v Canterbury City preview

Glebe return to SCEFL Premier Division action at Foxbury Avenue on Saturday afternoon when they entertain Canterbury City.

The Foxes go into the game having lost 3-1 at home to Fisher on Tuesday night, Jamie Philpott putting Glebe in front from the penalty spot, before Fisher scored three without reply.

The result left Luke Rooney’s side sitting in thirteenth place with fifteen points from thirteen league matches, having won four and drawn three so far, but they are only three points off sixth place.

Glebe have seen a lot of changes in personnel from last season’s team that finished third and they will be hoping to find a bit more consistency, looking good in their 2-0 win at Holmesdale last Saturday with Philpott scoring again.

Canterbury make the trip across Kent sitting tenth with nine points from twelve league games, on Wednesday night City Drew 2-2 at home to Kennington. Keith Bird’s team having lost three consecutive games prior to this, but they went in front through Gerry Owens and Marcus Travers equalised late on to earn a point for Canterbury.

Only three points separate the bottom five, so a win could potentially take them further away from the relegation zone currently occupied by Fisher and Punjab Utd.

City currently groundshare with Sittingbourne having faced an uncertain future over the summer, before thankfully finding the means to keep going as they look to move back to Canterbury after an extensive exile.

This looks set to be a tight game with both teams keen to get back to winning ways and move up the table going into the winter months.

Entrance for the game is £8 for adults and £5 for concessions with an excellent printed programme available at £2.
