Gillingham have added to their attacking options with the capture of Hakeeb Adelakun on a season-long loan from Lincoln City.
The 26-year-old winger arrives at MEMS Priestfield Stadium having already played twice for the Imps this season in Sky Bet League One, starting in their fixtures against Exeter City and Portsmouth respectively.
The former Rotherham United man signed for Lincoln City last summer on a long-term contract and scored three times in 29 appearances during the 2021/22 campaign.
He began his career in the youth teams at Crystal Palace and West Ham United but made his professional debut for Scunthorpe United in December 2012 as a second half substitute. He made his first start in a 4-0 win over Rochdale at Spotland in November 2013.
He went on to make a total of 169 appearances for the Iron, scoring 20 goals before moving to Bristol City on a free in the summer of 2018. Loan stints at Rotherham United and Hull City followed before Lincoln City signed the player last summer.
On arriving at Priestfield Hakeeb said: “I’m glad to get in and get myself settled and I’m really looking forward to getting going. I’ve had a full pre-season and I’m ready; I like to make things happen in the final third.”
Neil Harris said: “Hakeeb is a player I have chased all summer, we had to be patient due to him starting the first two league games at Lincoln.
“He is a player that has performed very well at the leagues above us over the last few seasons and I am sure will add great competition at the attacking end of the pitch.”
