Gillingham have confirmed the loan signing of Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Romain Vincelot on a loan deal until January 1st.
The 26 year old former Dagenham & Redbridge midfielder has found chances hard to come by at Brighton this season under Gus Poyet and hasn’t featured for the first team this season, but Gills boss Martin Allen saw him playing for their Development XI on Monday and has signed him until the New Year.
Gillingham manager Martin Allen confirmed the signing to the club’s official website:
“This morning we have signed Romain Vincelot from Brighton & Hove Albion on loan until January 1st. We have a few players missing due to knocks and we felt it necessary to bring in another player.”
“He is a goalscoring midfielder who has scored goals in this division and achieved a promotion and he is a good signing.”
“I look forward to seeing all our supporters tomorrow at AFC Wimbledon.”
Vincelot has been drafted in as cover for Gillingham with Charlie Lee still recovering from a knee injury whilst Charlie Allen missed Tuesday night’s game at Torquay United with a broken hand.
Born in Poitiers, France, Vincelot started out his career with Chamois Niortais before moving to Gueugnon in 2008.
Two seasons with Dagenham & Redbridge saw the goalscoring midfielder score 13 goals in 61 appearances before his move to the Seagulls last summer.
