Gillingham have added to their squad by signing former Charlton defender Joe Carter.
The nineteen year old left back was released by the Addicks back in May and has featured for Gillingham in a number of reserve team games including recent matches against Ipswich Town and Fulham.
Carter has agreed a deal until the end of the season and joins the club as a first year professional.
Speaking about the capture to the official website, Gills boss Andy Hessenthaler is pleased to have got his man:
“Joe’s got a nice left foot, he’s good on the ball and he’s an intelligent player.”
“He’s not the biggest, but then neither is Danny Jackman. He’s looked promising in training and we’ve been impressed with him so we’re taking him to the end of the season.”
Carter is expected to make his first team debut as the Gills play Barnet in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy on Tuesday night with kick off at 7pm.
