Gills set to ring the changes

Gillingham are set to ring the changes for the visit of Northampton Town this weekend.

Having had back to back defeats in their last two outings, The Gills need to get back to winning ways if they are to be considered promotion contenders after slipping to tenth in League Two.

There are two players that seem almost certain to come back into the side having sat on the bench for the past couple of games. Skipper Andy Frampton is set to be restored to his centre back slot with either Garry Richards or Matt Lawrence set to make way.

Also due to return is striker Danny Kedwell who hasn’t started for the past four games with either Frank Nouble or Jo Kuffour most under threat for their position.

In midfield, Gills boss Andy Hessenthaler has an abundance of options in which to choose from, however Lewis Montrose serves the third game of his three games suspension.

The game comes just too soon for both Jack Payne and Dennis Oli who are both back in training, while Barry Fuller, Danny Spiller and Adam Birchall all remain sidelined for some time to come.

Whoever starts on Saturday, Gillingham will be hoping their reasonable home form yields three points against a Cobblers side that is set to include former Gills striker Adebayo Akinfenwa.

The Gills could line up like this:

Flitney, Fish, Lawrence, Frampton, Martin, Whelpdale, Lee, Weston, Rooney, Kedwell, Kuffour.

Subs: Gazzaniga, Richards, Jackman, Nouble, S Payne.
