Gillingham manager Steve Evans and striker Vadaine Oliver have landed the League One Manager and Player of the month awards for March.

In a great month for the Kent side, Evans guided his side to five wins and two draws in their eight games played, propelling The Gills onto the cusp of the League One Play-off places.

Meanwhile, Oliver was in a rich vein of form, notching eight goals in as many games, proving to be a real threat to the League One opposition defences.

Sitting ninth in the League One table going into this weekend’s round of games, Gillingham will be hoping for three crucial points against Shrewsbury Town.

With just six games left in their season and 18 points still up for grabs, a win is surely a must for a Gills side that need to keep winning to keep the pressure on the top six.

The curse of the Manager of the Month award often sees a side lose their next game. Steve Evans will be hoping that’s not the case this weekend.
