Gills make changes for Watford visit

Gillingham will make six changes to their starting line up for the visit of Watford to Priestfield on Tuesday night.

In the club’s final pre-season fixture before the season starts in earnest against Bristol City in the Capital One Cup in just a week’s time, Gills boss Martin Allen has opted to ring the changes for the visit of Gianfranco Zola’s side.

Out go Stuart Nelson, Matt Fish, Chris Whelpdale, Jack Payne, Bradley Dack and Ben Strevens as the Gillingham manager opts to rest some of his players that are carrying slight knocks with Tommy Forecast, Jack Evans, Connor Essam, Lewis Montrose, Charlie Allen and Alex Brown all handed starts in the side.

Davies is expected to play in front of the back four in the role that Jack Payne normally operates, whilst Alex Brown will play on the right side of midfield, Charlie Allen on the right with Lewis Montrose playing the pivotal central role.

In an interesting move Charlie Lee will be handed the role of playing in the advanced position behind Danny Kedwell up front, with the substitutes for the game to be named shortly before kick off.

Gillingham side to play Watford tonight: Forecast, Evans, Essam, Flanagan, Martin, Davies, Brown, Montrose, Allen, Lee, Kedwell.

Kick Off is at 7:30pm.
