What better way to spend a sunny July afternoon than to see a team of your all time favourites play for a fully deserving local cause which will aid THE JOHN GRAHAM TRUST.

 The John Graham Trust is a charity that aims to empower adults with special learning needs by developing their independence and life skills. The Charity aims to do this by providing equipment and other services to people with a specific needs within the Kent area.Some of the Trust’s beneficiaries attend The John Graham Day Centre, Canterbury, Kent. Here, adults with learning disabilities are given the chance to experience the pleasures of outdoor life and healthy living, through a variety of activities and life skills provided at the Centre.Among other things, this includes learning about the care of animals, horticulture, as well as arts and crafts, woodwork and cookery, and music and dance. The Centre also offers ASDAN courses in certain areas, aimed at working towards independence and supported employment.The main event of a special Fun Day at Central Park in Sittingbourne will be a charity football match between a side of Gills Legends versus Bredhurst Juniors Senior County side.

The Gills squad is expected to feature Jim Stannard, Vince Bartram, Nicky Southall, Barry Ashby, Paul Smith, Guy Butters, Andy Hessenthaler, Mark Patterson, Bob Taylor, Mark Saunders, Steve Lovell, Danny Spiller, Mark Lovell, Neil Smith, Simon Ratcliffe, Chris Hope, Peter Heritage and Kevin James.

Two generations of Gills teams together in the same place in the sunshine for such a worthy cause – true testament to the good nature of True Legends of Kent football.

Charity times

Prior to the match there will be a very special 6 minutes each way football game, between another two adult teams.

These two teams will comprise of adults with learning disabilities and they will be representing the John Graham Centre and the Birling Avenue Centre. During the half time interval, there will also be a penalty shoot-out between two of Bredhurst’s Junior teams.

Running parallel to the main event is the Special Fun Day with lots of fun activities, including live displays from a local Karate Club, an Irish Dancing Troupe, Latin Formation Dancing.There will also be a Live Driving Experience, Zorb Football, Bouncy Slide, Football Stalls, Kiddies & Grand Tombola, Coconut Shy, Cake stalls, Art & Craft stalls, Jewellery stalls, Flowers and Plants stalls, Balloon race, Classic cars, Harley Davidsons Invicta, Emergency vehicles & personnel.Plus of course we will have a BBQ, Hog roast, Picnic area, bar and live music from ‘Taking Care of Vegas’ 5pm to 7pm and finally what fun day would be complete without the tug of war, where a team of volunteers will take on a team of challengers!!!
The tickets will be priced at £5 per adult and £1 per child or per child/adult with a learning disability and £10 for a family ticket (2 adults 3 children).All money raised will go towards the new all-weather pitch at the John Graham Centre.
