Gillingham have been drawn at home to Bristol City in the First Round of the Capital One Cup.
Martin Allen’s side will take on Sean O’Driscoll’s League One side early in August with the tie to be played at Priestfield in the week commencing the 5th.
Bristol City are familiar opposition to The Gills after the pair were drawn together in the First Round of the Capital One Cup last season, this time at Ashton Gate with Martin Allen and his new team coming away with a 2-1 victory.
Danny Kedwell scored the opening goal on the night from the penalty spot with Ben Strevens adding a second for The Gills early in the second half. Marvin Elliott scored what was to be just a consolation for Bristol City deep into injury time.
Much has changed in the past twelve months with both teams going to begin the new season in League One after Gillingham were promoted as Champions from League Two with Bristol City relegated from the Championship after finishing bottom of the league.
Meanwhile, the new fixtures for Gillingham’s new league campaign will be announced at 9:00am on Wednesday.
