Gillingham Ladies have been charged by the FA Women’s National League in relation to a breach of FA WNL Cup rule 6.i, fielding an ineligible player.

The charge is in relation to the semi-final appearances of two Gills players. The pair had not matched the required first team appearances prior to the fixture, to be eligible to play against West Bromwich Albion Women.

At a personal appeal hearing with the management committee of the FA Women’s National League, the club has been notified of the punishment and been disqualified from the competition.

A statement from the club reads:

“We will be making a further appeal, so at this stage will not be making any further comment.”
