Keith Millen’s red card was amateurish. Tom Knowles was clearly going to get to the ball first. At best it was going to be a yellow, at worst he was getting sent off.

When he left the players lost their heads.

The first goal was and eyebrow raiser. Shaun Williams showed zero desire to get the ball back and left a big gap.

The second goal was inexcusable. Williams lost the ball, stood a bit and then half chased back. Robbie McKenzie got done too. But that’s our captain.

I wasn’t at the game but the cheers were probably justified. I know many disagree but if a player isn’t trying then I think it’s fine to cheer when they’re subbed. I’m not sure if that was the case but it certainly looked it.

I don’t know if his legs have gone, if he’s thrown his toys out his pram after Neil Harris got sacked – I know he certainly wasn’t happy – or what but I’m not sure he’s got a place in this team anymore.

The third goal saw Dom Jefferies get done pretty easily, Max Ehmer beat as per and then Jake Turner should have saved it. The fourth, Ehmer showed his worst and we deserved exactly what we got.

Something isn’t right at the minute. Harris’ sacking was the correct call for me but I don’t think it’s been handled in the best way since. We’ve not really been told why it happened when it did and things haven’t been better since, to be honest.

Not once under Harris did we concede four in a game. Now we’ve done it twice in two matches. If anything we were defensively solid. Now we are not. Saturday was the worst we’ve defended in a very long time.

The team is in desperate need of a leader and Millen isn’t going to be that. He’s now suspended anyway and we seriously need the new person in by Notts County or I fear what the result could be.

We know it’s possible to turn things around. We’re hardly in crisis – we’re two points off second. But the new manager is needed quickly and hopefully they can get the backing of the players because it seems a lot of them are a bit lost in one way or another since Harris went.

The recruitment side of things has been strange. We heard Bruce was close, then he wasn’t. No one really stands out. We’re not sure how long it’s going to take.

There are several different approaches possible. Brad tweeted the stats from the game on Saturday which received a bit of backlash. I get why, but I get his post too. In his ‘new direction’ he wants to play on the front foot, that’s the bottom line.

We need a manager who will do that, get the most out of the squad and get us in that top seven come May. I’m not sure who the answer is or will be.

Getting rid of Harris was always going to be a risk. We probably would’ve finished top seven. It was a proactive, ruthless decision I agreed with. But that could soon change if we don’t get the next appointment right and make it quickly.
