Gillingham will play both Charlton Athletic and Colchester United in the Group Stage of this season’s Papa John’s Trophy, with an invited U21 side to be drawn this Thursday.

Neil Harris’ men are set to kick-off their campaign week commencing August 29th, and will play two of their three group stage fixtures at home. 

Last season the Gills beat Colchester United away in their opening group game, but then lost at home to both Ipswich Town and West Ham United which saw the club eliminated from the tournament.

The Gills have been placed in Group A of the southern section, as per the below, with one of the listed invited sides to be added on Thursday with the draw to take place on Sky Sports News at 11.30am.
