Gillingham have made their first signing of the summer with the capture of Regan Charles-Cook from Charlton Athletic.
The 21-year-old midfielder arrives at Priestfield having turned down a new deal at the Valley, and has put pen to paper on a two-year contract which will keep him at Gillingham until the summer of 2020.
Regan began his youth career at Arsenal and was with them for six years before electing to join Charlton. Since the summer of 2013 he has featured nine times and scored one goal for the Addicks.
Most of his playing experience has come while on loan, most notably at Woking where he had two separate stints having already had a spell with Solihull Moors towards the end of the 2016/17 season where he netted four times in 13 games.
At Woking he played 26 matches in total and scored five goals.
On signing for the club he said: “I felt it was time to move on having been with Charlton for a while, they’ve been good to me and it’s been my home.
“I’ve worked with Steve before, he knows what I’m about and I know what he’s like as a coach so it’s a comfortable move for me and he knows how to get the best out of me.
“I like driving with the ball, getting assists and a few goals. I will work my socks off.”
Steve Lovell added: “I’m delighted to have brought Regan to the Football Club. I have known him since a very young age and know what he is capable of. He is an incredibly determined man, a positive individual and I think his natural ability will be a real asset for us next season.”
Regan’s contract at Gillingham will begin on July 1.
