Gillingham have completed the signing of midfielder Jesse Starkey until January.
The 22-year-old, who came through the youth ranks at Portsmouth and Chelsea, will wear the number 29 shirt and is available for selection ahead of tomorrow’s game against Charlton Athletic.
After leaving Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2013 he signed for Brighton and Hove Albion on an initial two-year contract, however he mainly featured for the club’s U23 side and made four appearances in last season’s EFL Trophy, scoring against Stevenage in a 2-2 draw.
In January of this year Starkey, a former England U18 international, joined Swindon Town on an 18-month contract and made his debut against Charlton on April 30.
In the summer the player and the club decided to terminate his deal and Starkey has now joined the Gills until January.
