This coming Sunday sees Gillingham Women repatriated back into the Medway Towns in what should be a cracking match against Oxford United Ladies Team.
This repatriation of the exiled Gillingham team is thanks to the Board of Directors and Chairman Kevin Hake at Chatham Town, who have kindly offered its’ full support and allowing its’ facilities to be used to support the Gillingham Women team.
It’s crucial to get a high profile women’s team back in the Medway Towns after a tough period in the wilderness following its’ unfortunate separation from Gillingham Football Club.
In recent months, Gillingham Women have found themselves playing their home games at Thamesmead, but a change of Chairman sees the club back within an easy travelling distance for fans.
Their newly formed committee want to make this first game back at the Bauvill Stadium an occasion to remember for the team and their families.
As we know the women’s game is seeing a real renaissance after the Euros and with a World Cup fast approaching, there is a real appetite and huge opportunity to grow the women’s game across the county!
The team will be training on Thursday evening at the Bauvill in preparation for Sunday’s big game which kicks off at 2:30pm.
