On Thursday evening Gillingham and Bromley start their 2025 campaigns in a Sky Bet Division Two derby match.
It will be Gillingham’s second floodlight game in three days following their Monday night game at AFC Wimbledon.
The Gills started the first half strongly before the hosts enjoyed some possession without threatening. The Dons scored early in the second half but had to defend for their lives as Gillingham searched for the equaliser that never came.
Mark Bonner’s team are now without a win in three games but can consider themselves unfortunate after their latest outing in which they were denied a clear cut penalty.
As a result, they remain one point and two places below Bromley who are twelfth in the table. In their last game, on Sunday, the Ravens hosted Swindon Town and were held to a one-all draw.
Omar Sowunmi put Bromley one up midway through the second period but parity was restored three minutes later and Andy Woodman’s team had to settle for their tenth draw of the season.
Although they may have felt that it was two points dropped, it still extended their unbeaten league run to eleven games.
Away from home, Bromley have won four, drawn four and lost two whilst Gillingham have enjoyed six wins and a draw from their eleven home games.
When the two teams met at the beginning of December in Bromley, the hosts won two-one. There was no scoring until nine minutes into the second half when Cameron Congreve put the Ravens ahead.
However, the lead was only held for two minutes before Robbie McKenzie equalised. Jude Arthurs scored the winner with a crisp strike, nineteen minutes from time.
Only ten points separate Doncaster Rovers in second place and Gillingham in fourteenth so both clubs will be eager to win and keep in the play-off hunt.
