Many Gillingham fans will get their first look at Ady Pennock’s new look Gillingham side this weekend, as the Gills host their first home league game of the season.
Bradford City are the visitors to Priestfield tomorrow afternoon, as Stuart McCall brings his Bantams side to town looking to continue their fine start to the season.
The visitors beat Blackpool at home on the opening weekend of the season 2-1, thanks to goals from Omari Patrick on debut and Nathaniel Knight-Percival. They did however, lose to an 87th minute winner from Doncaster 3-2 in the Carabao Cup in mid week.
The Gills got off to a promising start to the season drawing nil-nil away at Doncaster Rovers last weekend, showing that they can defend resolutely and will be a team that are hard to break down this season, following Pennock’s summer recruitment.
Which could yet to be over, as the Gills boss has indicated that he would still like to sign two or three more players before the transfer window closes.
McCall will have Shay McCartan back in contention for the fixture tomorrow, having sat out the midweek cup game as a precaution. Captain Romain Vincelot begins a three match ban, and Adam and Charlie Chicksen will be the other absentees for the visitors.
The Gills may have Billy Bingham and Alex Lacey back in the squad for tomorrow, although decisions are likely to be made later today, with Lacey having been back in training all week.
Striker Tom Eaves has revealed that he would like to score twenty goals this season if he can, and he will be keen to get on the scoresheet against a side he knows will be difficult to beat.
