Gillingham will be going all out to spoil Swindon’s promotion party on Saturday whilst keeping their own play-off dreams alive.
After much confusion as to whether the game would go ahead, behind closed doors or not, Gillingham fans will pack into Priestfield for their penultimate home fixture of the season.
With it rests a lot, with Swindon needing just a point to be promoted to League One and a win could seal them the Championship, but The Gills have an agenda of their own.
Anything less than a win won’t do as they put in one final push for a play-off place, starting the weekend four points off Oxford United in seventh with just three games left to play.
So, the equation is simple, both sides need a win.
That should see both sides playing all out attacking football in front of a vociferous Priestfield crowd, with no love lost between the two sets of supporters dating back to the 1970’s.
Andy Hessenthaler will once again be forced to shuffle his pack with Gavin Tomlin ruled out for the rest of the season with an ankle injury that has seen him having to wear a protective boot.
On the plus side, Hessenthaler should be able to recall the likes of Charlie Lee, Danny Jackman, Curtis Weston and Ross Flitney after the quartet recovered from their respective injuries.
However, the game should come too soon for midfielder Jack Payne who will probably need another week on the sidelines.
The game will also see the return of former Gills midfielder Luke Rooney after his departure to Swindon in the January transfer window.
Rooney, along with his Swindon team-mates are sure to get a hospitable reception from the Rainham End.
Gillingham may end up lining up something like this:
Gazzaniga, Lee, Essam, Frampton, Martin, Whelpdale, Montrose, Jackman, Kuffour, Vine, Kedwell.
Subs: King, Weston, Spiller, Miller, Oli.
