The Gills play arguably the biggest home match of the season tonight as they entertain Sunderland, in one of the biggest matches of the season under the lights at the Medway Priestfield.
There promises to be a bumper crowd in for the Wednesday night fixture with the Gills having sold over 7,400 tickets for the match, although the Black Cats supporters have a near 300 mile journey to watch their team in midweek.
The Gills go into the game off of the back of their first defeat of the season against Walsall last weekend, although one positive was striker Tom Eaves continuing his excellent goal scoring form. Sunderland by contrast come into the game on the back of an impressive 3-0 win over Scunthorpe last weekend, and currently sit fourth in the table.
It is the first time that the two teams will have met since 2004 at the Medway Priestfield, and Steve Lovell and the players will be looking to get back to winning ways, whilst Sunderland boss Jack Ross will be looking for his side to continue their unbeaten league run.
The Black Cats have a few injury concerns ahead of the game tonight with Adam Matthews having come off during the weekend, and is a doubt for the midweek tie. Donald Love and Dylan McGeouch will travel with the squad but may not feature. They will be without Tom Flanagan, Aiden McGeady and Duncan Watmore.
The Gills have Elliott List closing on a return from injury, Billy Bingham may feature but isn’t going to be rushed back from injury, whilst the game might come too soon for Dean Parrett who picked up a hamstring injury nearly two weeks ago.
The game will kick-off at 7:45pm.
