Gillingham will be hoping to end their season on a high when Morecambe come to Priestfield this weekend.
Having failed to make the play-offs, nothing rides on this game for either side, but Gillingham will be keen to play out their last fixture of the 2011/12 season showing that they should have been considered for promotion.
For a lot of players, this could be the last time they feature for Gillingham with Andy Hessenthaler set for a summer clear out, so some will be keen to impress the boss for one last time.
With nothing to play for, the shackles could come off and Gillingham could play with the freedom that they have lacked at times throughout the season, with Hessenthaler possibly going to give a few youngsters a chance to show what they have in the dead rubber.
The likes of Alex Brown and Ashley Miller could well feature with Curtis Weston (food poisoning) and Chris Whelpdale (groin) both rated as doubtful.
The game could see the return of striker Adam Birchall who has missed out on playing for The Gills this season after picking up an ankle injury at Welling United in pre-season, but it would just be a cameo role for the former Dover Athletic man.
Meanwhile, Hessenthaler may be tempted to have a look at the likes of Simon King and Callum Davies in defence as he builds his squad for next season.
The game could also see the return of Jack Payne in midfield as a much changed Gillingham side is expected to take to the field.
Therefore, The Gills could line up like this:
Gazzaniga, Fish, Davies, King, Martin, Lee, Payne, Montrose, Jackman, Vine, Kedwell.
Subs: Frampton, Brown, Miller, Spiller, Birchall.
With three months without any competitive football at Priestfield to come, Gillingham fans will be hoping ot leave the ground at 5pm firm in the knowledge that the future is bright.
