Gillingham v Hereford Utd Preview

It’s all about three points for Gillingham tonight as they entertain Hereford United at Priestfield in League Two.

A win would could see The Gills back within three points of the play-off places, and put them within touching distance of Oxford United.

Gills boss Andy Hessenthaler is expected to keep faith with the same starting eleven for the fourth game in a row, with Simon King expected to be fit enough to take his place in the back four.

Both Charlie Lee and Oliver Lee are pushing for a place in the midfield, but Hessenthaler will be reluctant to change things around after bagging four points from the last two outings.

With Ross Flitney, Barry Fuller, Matt Fish, Andy Frampton and Adam Birchall still sidelined, the squad almost picks itself at the moment with Matt Lawrence and Dennis Oli both available for loan.

Danny Spiller is getting closer to a return to first team action, but he will need to play in a few reserve games before being considered for a game.

The only decision Hessenthaler really has to make is as to whether he has a spare keeper on the bench. The Gills boss has favoured going with five outfield players as his subs, with Daren Hawkes likely to miss out once again.

Therefore, The Gills should line up like this tonight:

Gazzaniga, Evans, Essam, King, Jackman, Tomlin, J Payne, Weston, Whelpdale, Kuffour, Kedwell.

Subs: Richards, Martin, Montrose, O Lee, C Lee.

Gillingham will be hoping for a repeat of the 6-1 victory over Hereford United earlier in the season, although Hessenthaler would surely quite happily take a 1-0 win before the game.
