Gillingham have bolstered their striking options by bringing in AFC Bournemouth striker Mikael Ndjoli on a season long loan.
The 20 year-old forward began his early football career at Tottenham Hotspur and Watford before joining the Academy at Brentford, where he was part of the U15 team which won the Junior category at the 2012 Milk Cup.
In 2014 Mikael went on to join the Academy at Millwall, having been offered a two year scholarship, during which he scored 20 goals in 24 matches for the U18s and went on to feature for the U21 squad during the 2015-16 season.
Ndjoli signed his first professional contract with Bournemouth in the summer of 2016 on a one-year deal. During this time Mikael was part of the team that reached the 2017 Hampshire Senior Cup Final.
On July 4 2018, Ndjoli joined Scottish Premiership club Kilmarnock on a half-season loan, which was then extended until the end of the 2018–19 campaign.
He made 31 appearances and scored five goals in total, four of those coming in a four-game spell in late July and early August 2018.
Mikael agreed his new contract with the Gills on Wednesday and will remain at ME7 until the summer of 2020.
The player becomes another new signing under the management of Steve Evans who has now added seven new faces to his squad ahead of the 2019/20 Sky Bet League 1 season. The Gills will begin the new campaign away to Doncaster Rovers at The Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday August 3.
After signing his new deal, Mikael Ndjoli said: “I’m really pleased to have joined Gillingham ahead of the new season.
“The Chairman and Manager are incredibly ambitious people; they are very determined to have a successful season and I was keen to be a part of that.
“I will do my very best at all times. I’m raring to go and I look forward to pre-season.”
Manager Steve Evans added: “I first became aware of Mikael Ndjoli when I watched a very impressive Kilmarnock team last season under the leadership of Steve Clarke. I’ve had the opportunity to watch Mikael start games and come on and make a serious impact against the likes of Celtic, Rangers and Aberdeen who are all huge clubs.
“Mikael is very comfortable up through the middle or in a wide position on either side of the pitch. I’m not going to build him up to something he’s not, but he has electric pace and he will be an asset to the group.”
