Dartford’s Adam Gemili is a World Champion after the 4×100 metre relay team scooped gold on Saturday night.
The GB team, made up of Chijindu Ujah, Gemili, Daniel Talbot and Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake, triumphed in a time of 37.47 seconds, beating Justin Gatlin’s US team by 0.05 seconds at the World Athletics Championships in London.
The four Britons ran the fastest time in the world this year as they romped home in front of a bumper crowd at the Olympic Stadium.
With Usian Bolt pulling up injured on the home straight, the GB quartet came home first to the delight of Gemili who could barely believe he was a world champion:
“It’s unbelievable, world champions,” Gemili said.
“This is just a dream and it’s a reality tonight.”
