Charlton slumped to a 3-0 defeat at Craven Cottage on Saturday afternoon, all three goals coming from corners.
Tom Cairney’s brace sandwiched Michael Madl’s header.
Diego Poyet and El-Hadji Ba replaced injured duo, Jordan Cousins and Johnnie Jackson in the engine room, with Callum Harriott partnering Simon Makienok up front.
There were bench spots for new arrivals Marco Motta ,Yun Suk-Young and Rod Fanni.
Jared Roberts-Smith observed the warm-up, possibly in readiness to take over from Laurence Bloom.
The Addicks started brightly, with Harriott and Zakaraya Bergdich’s pace causing Fulham problems.
But Fulham had a touch of class, and Charlton’s Achilles heel at set pieces was again their undoing. Just past the half-hour mark, Scott Parker connected with a left-wing corner and thumped his shot against the bar.
The Addicks’ respite was short lived however, Cairney latched on to the rebound to pick his spot.
Charlton also had their chances in the opening period, with Harriott and Makienok having the best of them.
The half ended with a slick one touch move down the right by the hosts, but Ross McCormack put his shot well over.
The visitors were undone again just before the hour mark, when a corner from the right was headed home by Madl.
Midway through the half, Jose Riga made a double substitution, replacing Ba and Poyet with Ademola Lookman and Marco Motta. Chris Solly and Johann Berg Gudmundsson moved into central midfield.
Cairney struck again twelve minutes from time, netting a spectacular volley from the edge of the box to extinguish any faint hopes the Addicks had of getting back into the game.
Harriott, Gudmundsson and Makienok went close, while Amorebieta hit the bar for Fulham.
Bolton’s draw with Queen’s Park Rangers sent
Charlton back to the bottom of the table, six points from safety. Bristol City’s 2-0 win at Milton Keynes Dons was enough for the Robins to stretch the gap over the Addicks to nine points.
Riga will need to perform a minor miracle if he is to retrieve the situation.
