West Ham United defender Matt Fry has been tipped to return to Gillingham after playing in a behind closed doors game on Tuesday afternoon.
The 21 year old central defender spent six months on loan with The Gills from August 2009, making thirteen appearances and has had a similar loan spell with Charlton Athletic last season.
Fry has been surplus to requirements at Upton Park thus far and with former Gills Assistant Manager Ian Hendon now the Development Manager at Upton Park, a move down to Medway could be on the cards.
With Gillingham’s defensive frailties exposed in the 4-3 loss to AFC Wimbledon at the weekend, Andy Hessenthaler may now make a move for the central defender.
Fry played sixty three minutes of the game on Tuesday against a Millwall XI with Dany N’Guessan scoring the only goal for the game.
Hessenthaler also cast his eye over another West Ham trialist, Jordan Brown along with TNS winger Ryan Marriott, whilst Millwall included former Gills loanee Josh Wright in their side.
Meanwhile, a young Gillingham side drew 1-1 with a West Ham side at Upton Park with former Gills loan striker Frank Nouble turning out for the Hammers.
