Fry makes Bradford switch

Former Gillingham and Charlton Athletic loanee Matt Fry has left West Ham United and joined League Two side Bradford City.

The twenty one year old central defender failed to make an appearance for the Hammers and was released from his contract at Upton Park.

Having found himself without a club, Fry had been training with Bradford for the past week and has now agreed a permanant deal with the Bantams until the end of the season.

Fry had a four month loan spell at Priestfield between August 2009 and January 2010, making thirteen appearances and had been offered back to The Gills only a few weeks ago.

The defender played in a behing closed doors game against Millwall, but Gills boss Andy Hessenthaler decided against following up on Fry who spent 32 appearances on loan at Charlton Athletic last season.

Following the announcement of the news, Fry tweeted: “Am now delighted to announce I have signed a contract with Bradford City and I’m glad to rejoin former boss Parky. Massive club”

Meanwhile former Charlton boss Phil Parkinson had this to say to Bradford’s official website: “It looks like we are going to have a backlog of fixtures and I want to make sure we’re covered in all positions,”

Fry could come up against The Gills when Bradford City entertain the Kent club on March 24th.
